New Training Courses Launched
Over the past few months the Learning & Development team at Victim Support Scotland have been designing new training courses on the Impact of Crime, Domestic Abuse and Victims of Sexual Crime. All these course have been certified by the CPD Certification Service as conforming to continuing professional development principles.
After the 2012 EU Victim’s Directive, and the Victims and Witnesses (Scotland) Act 2014, there has been a drive to provide professionals who may interact with victims and witnesses with suitable training.
Our courses are beneficial for people working in communities, criminal justice, health and social care, voluntary, private and public organisations. Since we started running our pilot courses in June 2015, many attendees have been university students studying criminal justice, law, psychology or related areas.
VSS courses are open to anyone, including those who have a general interest in this area or know someone who has been affected by crime.
The introductory level course is the Impact of Crime which focuses on the how crime affects individuals, families and communities. Our one day training equips the learner with communication skills required to communicate effectively and sensitively with a victim or witness.
Our latest courses are crime specific training for Domestic Abuse and Victims of Sexual Crime at intermediate to advanced level. Participants will build confidence and develop more in-depth skills and knowledge to help them effectively manage difficult and confidential situations.
All courses are available to book through Eventbrite or by requesting invoicing for your organisation.
