Chief Executive based in Edinburgh

Victim Support Scotland is an independent charity built around a team of committed staff and volunteers, whose mission is to support people affected by crime and keeping them at the heart of the criminal justice system in Scotland. We are at the forefront of raising the profile and improving the rights of victims and witnesses in the public, parliamentary and criminal justice arenas.

Our values are being supportive and accessible, offering personalised help and the best possible service. We aim to help people affected by crime to have reduced stress and more resilience, to feel less vulnerable and isolated and to be better informed. In 2016/7 we dealt with over 100,000 victim referrals and more than 125,000 witness contacts.

We are looking to recruit a Chief Executive to continue to drive forward and shape our organisation in the face of a continually challenging and changing environment.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent and have a proven track record of leadership at a senior level and experience of working effectively with Board Trustees and senior officials.  You will have had responsibility for strategic planning, change and people management and will be able to evidence strong business and commercial awareness and an entrepreneurial spirit. You will understand what it means to lead a modern charity. You should also be able to demonstrate an understanding of the political, social, economic and legal issues in relation to the justice and voluntary sector and be able to represent Victim Support Scotland effectively with the Scottish Government and the justice sector.

For a confidential discussion about the position please contract Catriona Mackie or Andrew Thomson at our recruitment partners, Aspen People, on 0141 212 7555.
