Volunteers are needed everywhere in Scotland to support people affected by crime.

We are looking for volunteers who have a range of skills.
 
Service Delivery to Victims of Crime which is normally provided by either home visits, office appointments or over the phone
 
Volunteers are needed to:
 
  • listen to victims
  • identify any support needs they might have
  • provide practical and emotional support.
 
We need enthusiastic volunteers who are keen on develop their skills.
 
Volunteers also assist with completing Criminal Injuries Compensation forms and offer help when victims are dealing with insurance claims. With the assistance of the Coordinator, volunteers link clients to other services and agencies. They also provide information on criminal proceedings and the criminal justice system.
 
Those volunteers choosing to work from the office location will be required to answer phones, make appointments and other administrative duties.

Skills & Experience
Volunteers should have a desire to help others, be nonjudgmental and able to keep information of a confidential nature. They need to have the ability to abide by Victim Support policies and procedures, listen and help victims and accept regular support and supervision.

Training and Induction Details
Foundation Training takes place on a regular basis throughout the year and takes about 25 hours to complete

Expenses Detail
Reasonable travel and subsistence costs whilst on VSS business are reimbursed.
 
Frequency & Commitment
The time commitment that we ask from you in fulfilling this role is approximately two to four hours per week, for 1 year minimum

Minimum Age: Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age
