Attending court as a witness can be a very worrying experience. The Witness Service exists to help people through the judicial process by providing practical and emotional support at court. You can contact the service at any time - before, during or after attending court.

The service, which is available to witnesses in every Sheriff and High Courts, is confidential and provided by trained volunteers and staff. The service is free.

The Witness Service offers:
  • Practical help
  • Information on court procedures
  • A pre-trial familiarisation visit to the court
  • Guidance regarding further support
  • A listening ear for your anxieties/concerns
