Policy work constitutes a key role in Victim Support Scotland’s efforts to effect change in external policy, practice and public opinion for the benefit of victims and witnesses of crime and their families.

The team works in partnership with key organisations in the criminal justice sector, liaises with Parliamentarians, civil servants and other policy makers, and this includes conducting research and responding to Government and external Consultations.

In 2017, we hosted a successful conference on hate crime, featuring a number of prominent speakers, including a presentation by the Right Honourable Lord Bracadale on the consultation process for the ongoing independent review of hate crime legislation.  You can read more about our conference here and slides from the presentations can be accessed here.

In this section you can also browse through the main Victim Support Scotland reports and consultation responses.
