Our Recruitment Process

You can view our Current Vacancies here. Once you have found the role that interest you and are ready to apply, our straightforward recruitment process should make this easy.

There are five simple steps to starting your career with Victim Support Scotland:

1. Application

Download the application form referenced in the job vacancy page for the role that interests you and save it to your computer. Once you have completed your application email it to us at:

If you would like a blank application form sent to you by post, please email us at with your name and address and we will send one to you.

Printed applications can be posted to us at:

2. Equal Opportunities Monitoring Form

We are committed to equal opportunities in our recruitment process and to help us monitor how well we are doing, we will ask you to complete our Equal Opportunities Monitoring Form. This can be downloaded from the relevant job vacancy page.

The information on these forms is used by the Victim Support Scotland Human Resources team only, for monitoring purposes – submitted forms are not seen by any of the selection/interview panel and do not form any part of the interview process.

3. Shortlisting

Once the closing date for a vacancy has passed, we will shortlist the most suitable candidates for an interview. We are looking for candidates who best match the criteria we are looking for, based on the skills listed in the job description.

If you have not heard from us within 4 weeks of the closing date of the vacancy, you will have been unsuccessful in your application on this occasion, but please do not be discouraged from applying for future vacancies.

4. Interview

If you are selected for interview, we will contact you by email, letter or telephone.

You will be advised of the interview, time, date, location and duration.

Our interview panels usually consist of 3 members and where possible these will be mixture of male and female staff.

All candidates selected for interview will be asked the same set of questions. Our questions are competency based and are linked to our Competency Framework.

5. What happens next

If you are successful, you will be contacted by a member of the interview panel, who will let you know that they intend to offer you the position.  This will be followed up a few days later by a formal written offer from our HR Deptartment

All our offers of employment are subject to us receiving satisfactory references and the relevant Disclosure Scotland check for the position.

If you are unsuccessful, our HR Department will write to you within a few days of your interview.  Feedback is available if you ask for it.
